Domestic Policies
Ford began his presidency with an attempt to pardon former president Nixon. President Ford aimed to curb inflation, stimulate the economy, help business operate more freely by reducing taxes, solve energy shortages, and ease control by regulatory agencies. Ford feared inflation so he vetoed non-military appropriation bills that would increase the deficit.
